When most of our clients ask about underfloor heating, they are usually thinking about comfort. After all, stepping onto a warm tile floor on a freezing Lancashire morning is one of life's great little luxuries.

But at ProActive Bathrooms, we often recommend underfloor heating for a completely different reason: it is a massive safety upgrade.

Drying Floors Faster

In a true level-access wet room, the floor naturally gets wet outside of the immediate shower zone. While we always use premium anti-slip tiling to ensure you remain safe while showering, standing water left on a floor for hours can eventually become a slipping hazard, especially if mobility is an issue.

Underfloor heating solves this problem beautifully. The gentle, radiant heat causes the residual water on your tiles to evaporate much faster than it would at normal room temperature. Within a short time of finishing your shower, the floor is bone dry and completely safe to walk across in socks or slippers.

Removing Bulky Obstacles

Another hidden benefit of underfloor heating is space. Traditional bathroom radiators and large towel rails protrude from the wall. In a bathroom designed for mobility—where wheelchair access or the use of a walking frame might be necessary—every inch of turning circle matters.

By burying the heat source in the floor, we completely eliminate the need for bulky wall-mounted radiators. This removes a physical obstacle and a potential burn hazard if someone were to lose their balance and fall against it.
