0% VAT — when it may apply
Qualifying disability-related bathroom adaptations may be eligible for 0% VAT. Eligibility depends on the customer's circumstances and whether the work is necessary to meet their disability-related needs. A general bathroom refurbishment does not automatically qualify simply because someone has a disability or is older.
How we approach it
- ✓We explain the process and help complete the relevant HMRC declaration where it may apply.
- ✓Eligibility is assessed against the work being done — not assumed from a condition name alone.
- ✓Age alone does not make an entire bathroom refurbishment zero-rated.
- ✓Not every product in a room is necessarily zero-rated; we discuss scope on survey.
Final eligibility is determined under HMRC rules (including Notice 701/7). We will never ask for detailed medical records at first contact — only whether you are enquiring about a possible adaptation.

Straight answers before you book a survey.
Can I get 0% VAT on an accessible bathroom?+
Possibly — where the work is a qualifying disability-related adaptation necessary for the person’s condition. It is not automatic for every disability-related enquiry, and not every item in a room is necessarily zero-rated. We explain what may apply on survey and help with the relevant declaration. HMRC rules apply.
Do I need a Blue Badge or doctor’s note at this stage?+
Not for an initial enquiry. Where a declaration is appropriate later, we guide you through the minimum information needed. We do not ask for detailed medical records on our website forms.
Do you offer 0% finance?+
No. We do not offer interest-free credit. We are arranging a regulated monthly-payment introduction (intended via Kandoo). Ask us what is available today. Separately, some projects may qualify for 0% VAT — that is a tax rule, not a finance product.
Who would provide the finance?+
When live, any finance would come from a lender on a regulated broker’s panel (intended via Kandoo / Switcha Limited — a credit broker, not a lender). ProActive Bathrooms is not the lender.
Is ProCore18™ affected by VAT relief?+
When ProCore18™ forms part of a qualifying accessible adaptation, it is discussed within accessible package pricing on survey. On luxury packages it is a £999 optional upgrade.
