Why ProCore18™ is our non-negotiable standard

← Back to Journal

When it comes to bathrooms that last a lifetime, what you can't see is often more important than what you can. A beautiful grab rail or folding shower seat is only ever as strong as the wall behind it. That problem is exactly why we invented ProCore18™.

We didn't buy a system. We built one.

Years of installing luxury and accessible bathrooms taught us the same hard lesson: standard plasterboard and plugs are not enough for real-world mobility support. When someone slips and puts sudden body weight through a rail, the wall has to hold — completely.

Existing “trade” approaches kept failing the Family Test. So we designed our own method on live Lancashire projects, refined it through accessible installs, and named it ProCore18™: a proprietary wall-reinforcement system engineered specifically for bathrooms that need to stay beautiful and become safer over time.

ProCore18™

A ProActive-invented structural system that reinforces non-structural walls with a continuous matrix of structural-grade timber board before waterproofing and finishing — so fixtures can be placed where people need them, not where studs happen to sit.

How the system works

Before tiles, panels, or waterproofing go on, we prepare the wet-area framework properly. Non-structural walls are lined with a continuous layer of structural-grade timber board, creating a solid backing across the whole surface rather than isolated fixing points.

That matrix is what turns a decorative finish into an engineered wall. Grab rails, seats, and heavy fixtures can be secured with confidence — and, crucially, new aids can be added years later without tearing the room apart.

Why it is non-negotiable on accessible installs

  • Real load capacity: fixtures are backed for serious force — far beyond a towel rail on plasterboard.
  • True positioning freedom: supports go where your height and movement need them, not where timber studs dictate.
  • Future-proofing without rework: if mobility needs change in five or ten years, aids can usually be added without changing tiles or panels.

Where ProCore18™ is included

On our accessible bathroom packages, ProCore18™ is included as standard. Independence is the brief — so the structure has to be right from day one.

On our luxury bathroom packages, ProCore18™ is available as an optional upgrade for £999. Many clients add it to future-proof a beautiful suite for later life, family visitors, or simply for the peace of mind that heavy fixtures are properly supported.

Beautiful finishes make a bathroom a joy to use. ProCore18™ is what keeps that bathroom honest when life changes. When you choose ProActive, you're choosing a system we invented because nothing on the shelf was good enough for the people we care about.
